Here we go!
Today's the start of school.
Attended 2 lectures, Intro sessions, photo taking and basically logistics. Well, you see. The medicine course here at UNSW has 236 first years Med. So it's like everyone is divided into 4 main colleges. yea, kinda like Harry Potter. Within each college we're further divided into 5 small groups. it's actually quite confusing. There's this Lecture group, Scenario group, Clinical group, Collegia group.
Anyways, yea, I was so shocked today when they announced my name as being one of the first few to go to the hospital! "This Wednesday in formal attire, a tie would be appreciated, bring your stethoscope to put around your neck so you look professional...", I was like, errr, I haven't learn anything yet go hospital act like a doctor liao ah? And the hospital is like 1.5 hours away. Oh well, tell you guys more about the experience later.
So there you go, first year med's first day. We also had a free BBQ lunch from Medical Society, which basically is a 'club' all medical students are in. One thing they keep repeating here is "look to your left, look to your right, one of you may not be here next year, one of you may fail and one of you may decide afterall you want to do soemthing else." Haha... But another one's rather true, soemthing which I agree with but have been unable to put down in words," As medical students or practitioners you guys have a special place in society, people may view you differently and the things you do are unlike most. But always remember, with this prestige and respect that people may give you, will require of yourself a responsibility as well. A lot of people are so happy they get into medical school and stop at that, viewing their entry some sorts of an end, but you guys should realise that this, what you're now in, is not only not the end, but rather just a start, the beginning, of a lifetime of learning and excitement..." Wow. I felt really proud (in the humble sense, hehe) after that speech.
Well, I guess that's about what I have today. Have a great one.
